Special Christmas Interview with Author Claudia Whitsitt

1. What is your favorite Christmas movie? Is there a reason/tradition behind your pick?

The Holiday! As soon as Thanksgiving dinner is over and the tree is assembled and decorated, I pull out this movie and get even further in the mood for Christmas. My girls and I have watched this movie as part of our Christmas tradition for years and I have so many fond memories of snuggling up with them and laughing (at the same parts) and oohing and ahhing over the clothes and beautiful scenery. We have to eat Christmas cookies with milk while we're watching, too!

2. If you could kiss anyone under the mistletoe, who would it be??? (Significant others not allowed!)

Well now, I'd have to say my Daddy. He's 86 now and he's my favorite guy on the planet next to my hubby and son. Still having him in my life is a true Christmas blessing. We love to share a glass of wine and talk about our favorite books and it warms my heart that he's so proud of all I've accomplished as an author.

3. What was the best, and worst, Christmas you ever had?

My best Christmas was just a couple of years ago when my kids were all home and we opened gifts for what seemed like hours, had a leisurely breakfast, played board games, just like we did when they were little, then made an awesome meal together. It was all about our family and the joy of being together.

My worst Christmas? Nope. Don't have one!

4. What is your favorite thing about Christmas?

It's impossible to pick one favorite thing about Christmas. It's the season of decorating, baking, shopping, wrapping gifts, and giving. Each part is special. I love finding the perfect gifts for my family and friends, love wrapping them with fancy bows, love baking our traditional cut-out cookies and Russian teacakes and watching my family open gifts. Priceless! My favorite way to celebrate the season is to turn off the lights (except for those on the tree), listen to Christmas Carols, and sip a Bailey's. Delightful!

5. Which character that you've written loves Christmas the most? Worst? Why?

Nick, Sam's twelve year old son in The Samantha Series loves Christmas more than any other character because he's all about fun and teasing his mom with holiday pranks.

I don't have a character who dislikes Christmas. I guess my love of the holiday season has transferred to my characters.

Thanks, Claudia!
