November Author Interviews Featuring Justine Elvira

Today I'd like to welcome, Justine Elvira!

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my questions.
I'm excited to have you and can't wait to learn more about you.

1. Where do you find inspiration for your books?
I find inspiration for my books just about anywhere. Changing His Game came to me after I listened to a radio host interviewing a male porn star. My Lane One series popped in my head when I was swimming laps at my gym. I just never know when inspiration is going to hit. A lot of what I write comes from what I know, what I've experienced, and what others around me have experienced. That's not to say my stories are real. They're complete fiction, but some of the small details in my stories come from things that have actually happened.

2. Is there a routine to your writing?
I have a routine for preparing to write each novel. Every single one of my stories has a notebook. This is where I plot the story out, write down ideas, character description, research, etc. Once I feel confident I have a story to move forward with I'll start typing away and let the words flow. That's the only routine I have. When it comes to the actual story I write whenever I have time.

3. Who are some of your favorite writers? How have they inspired you?
There are a few authors for me that can do no wrong. I've read everything they've published and loved every single word. My favorite authors are Jodi Piccoult, Colleen Hoover, Madeline Sheehan and R.L. Mathewson.  Each of their books is so special and unique. I'm in awe of their ability to captivate me so intensely in the fictional world they've created. They inspire me everyday to work on my craft and become a better writer with each book I publish.

4. What are you working on now?
Right now I am working on something special for my fans. It's a novella that I'm releasing in the beginning of December for free as a Christmas gift and thank you for supporting me. Then I have a new stand-alone novel coming out in January called Noah. It's up for pre-order at most retailers for a special price of $0.99/£0.99. I'm really excited for everyone to read it.

5. What advice would you give to unpublished writers?
If I could give advice to any unpublished authors it would be to not stop writing. Continue to write everyday even if you think it's crap. The more you write the better you will become at your craft. When you're ready to publish the biggest advice I could give is to get a professional editor and cover design. These two things are so important because your first book is a representation of you. You worked so hard on your story so you should want it to look the best it can.

THE CON

Jagger had three rules for every con:

1. Don't back out
2. Don't forget the story
3. Don't f*** it up

I broke them all.

I first met Jagger when I was just nine years old. He was an older boy who gave me twenty dollars to buy a new pair of ballet shoes after I dropped mine in the mud. That's when I fell in love with him.

And love would be my downfall.

I would run into Jagger over the years and I'd watch him as he'd hustle strangers out of their money with his latest scam. He lied, he cheated, and he took advantage of anyone he could. Most importantly, he never got caught.

Well, until he needed me to help him pull off his biggest con to date.

I thought I could do it. He told me it was easy to make money through deception, and I believed him because he had a lot of it.

But I should have known that nothing is guaranteed.

My name is Ronnie and now we're on the run.

Today I'd like to welcome, K. Larson!

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my questions.
I'm excited to have you and can't wait to learn more about you.

1. Where do you find inspiration for your books?
The strangest places. A single line from a song or TV show. A dream I had.  A post I saw. A news story. It could come from anything at any time!

2. Is there a routine to your writing?
When the idea has solidified in my brain, I just start writing. Sometimes I write the last scene first, like in Jezebel, and sometimes I just write start to finish.

3. Who are some of your favorite writers? How have they inspired you?
Mara White - Gawd, her writing is gorgeous. I love how her words flow and draw pictures.

Leylah Attar - that woman...hilarious, kind, masterful grip on words and flow. She's brilliant!

4. What are you working on now?
Hmm, well I am currently co-writing a book with another author. It's kinda hush hush for the moment but I promise you it's going to be oh so awesome!

5. What advice would you give to unpublished writers?
Just write. Get the story on paper. Then start figuring out what to do next. Oh! Start a mailing list ASAP- build that up from day one and you are golden!

November Author Interviews Featuring Marissa Dobson

Today I'd like to welcome, Marissa Dobson!

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my questions.
I'm excited to have you and can't wait to learn more about you.

1. Where do you find inspiration for your books?
Inspiration is the easy part, it's finding time to write everything that's in my brain. I can be walking down the street and a new idea hits me. I can't say where it comes from, not really, it just happens.

2. Is there a routine to your writing?
My husband is a special education teacher so I do the bulk of my writing while he's at work and the house is quiet. From 6:30am until 3:30pm it's my time. I write until my fingers fall off or my eyes go cross. There are a lot of evenings I'm working as well, especially when I'm on a roll or a deadline. Give me a cup of tea and my laptop and you won't hear from me for hours.

3. What are you working on now?
I'm currently working on the third novella of a new series that will be out in 2016. The series is Crimson Hollow and the first book is Romancing the Fox.

4. What advice would you give to unpublished writers?
Don't give up. Believe in yourself and go after your goals. Also write every day. It doesn't matter if it's only a few hundred words, just make sure you do it every day.

Coffee or Tea

Depends on my mood. In the morning I need coffee to get going but once it starts snowing I love a good cup of tea with honey.

Wine or Beer

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my questions.
I'm excited to have you and can't wait to learn more about you.

1. Where do you find inspiration for your books?
I find inspiration everywhere I go, but music is what gives me the initial spark most of the time. I will listen to a song and then I have the idea for my next novel.

Marion Zimmer Bradley made me fall in love with Fantasy and SciFi. She was such a talented storyteller and her worldbuilding was fantastic. Colleen Hoover's books always move me in some way, she writes beautifully.

I'm working on "We Used to Be Friends", the second standalone novel in my Love Me, I'm Famous series.

5. What advice would you give to unpublished writers?

Release Blitz for Redemption (Children of the Gods #3) by Jessica Therrien

Redemption (Children of the Gods
#3)

Nobody promised freedom would be peaceful…

AVAILABLE TODAY!

Lead Council member, Christoph, is dead by Elyse’s hand, and
Descendants have begun to emerge, exposing their secret to the world. Some see this as the prophecy come to fruition, but the prophecy caries a heavy consequence. It was never meant to be as peaceful as most had hoped.

Humans and Descendants struggle to live together
in a world that isn’t ready for such a change. America is divided. Those who glorify the supernatural race believe Descendants truly are the gods they claim relation to. Others see them as a threat.

When Elyse gives birth to the next generation
oracle, she sees one final vision—war. The destruction of the country’s major cities, and the end of America as we know it.

After her daughter is born, Elyse finds herself without the ability she needs to predict the future. Desperate to save the world from such conflict, she puts her faith in the hope that Descendants are
the key to survival.

After all, they have the power to supply a broken society with the means to survive.
Only from the ashes can a new world be born.

Elyse’s Story…

The Children of the Gods Series

The Descendants have waited long enough for
freedom…
