Never Let You Fall Blog Tour

Hi everyone!  I want to thank Bethany for sharing Never Let You Fall with you guys today!  She ROCKS doesn't she!  I don't know how many of you know a writer- or someone who is creatively minded- but if you do then I'm betting that what I'm about to share with you will sound familiar.

As I was wracking my brain with what to share today I scanned the room I'm in only to see all of the things I need to get done.  Writing, blogging, promoting, messing around on Twitter and Facebook (all in the same of promoting my book) all take a toll on my day to day life.  Here are the ten things that have suffered due to my passion…

1) Laundry- Let me be honest here laundry has never been very high on my priority list.  Since taking to writing full time during the day it has really suffered.  I will say I am usually able to get things washed when needed.  It is the putting away that eludes me.

ß Proof right there.  Lots of clean clothes finally separated to go into the owners rooms.  Now they will sit in chairs and baskets until said owner pulls it out, wears it and places it into the dirty clothes again.  The vicious cycle then begins again.  The chance of these items, especially the kids, seeing a hanger are slim to none.

2) My hair!  Oh my, this isn't as funny as the laundry so don't laugh.  My poor hair is probably screaming at me every morning, "Noooo! Don’t put that rubber band in here again.  Fix me!"  Sorry sweet hair of mine…up you go every day.  Messy buns are your friend.  Let me tell you guys I have a TON of hair.  Seriously it's think and wavy and without blow drying or straightening irons it can be a big ole frizzy mess.  It takes time to tame these wild tresses.

Proof that it does get fixedà

ß What you typically will see!

3) Meal time.  This is another thing that has always suffered somewhat at our house due to after school activities.  However, with my days filled with writing- and other writing related things- I just forget to take food out and cook it.  Chick-fil-A, oh how I love thee.  We also love Five Guys, Firehouse Subs and all of the various pizza places by the house.  As I am writing this I will toot my 'feeling accomplished' horn.  We have cooked ALL three nights this week!  Woot!

4) School paperwork.  Ugh!  I think I am the worst mother ever.  I have been really bad at checking emails and paperwork sent home from school this second half of the year.  I was in the middle of finishing Never Let You Fall and then editing and promoting.  I might as well say 'my dog ate the forms' because I'm really just making excuses.  My pledge for next year- I will check all school stuff every afternoon when I pick up kids before I do anything else. *someone remind me of this in August!

5) My kids.  On a serious note for a moment I have to be honest and admit that they suffer from my writing.  I have three little minions- 7, 8.5 and 14.5- and I love them so.  When your child says 'all you do is write' it's like a slap in the face.  With summer here I am trying to be very cognizant of my time.  Most people do not realize how much a writer's family and home life suffers.  I try to limit my writing to while they are in school or after bed but sometimes I can't help it.  They are my most important creations in this world and I strive to give them all the time they deserve.

6) The husband.  Serious time, again.  See above but put my husband in the mix.  Poor guy suffers more because he is an adult and I can tell him to go away ;)  Thankfully he is the most supportive guy on this planet and pushes me to write.  However, date nights have gone down and late nights watching TV or movies have completely disappeared.  Sorry honey!  We are going to Nashville in June for a getaway (and book related UtopYA Con) so we will get some one on one time, if only in the car!

7) Cleaning.  LOLOLOLOLOL!  What's that?  I need a maid please!!  Enough said.

8) Working out.  Poor me, I used to take a 3 day a week self-defense/workout class.  Yep, gave it up because it was during my peak writing time.  I have yet to get back into a mode of working out that sticks.  Yay for summer and swimming.  I think I'm going to start doing laps in the pool- that's something right?  Maybe it's time to start that running routine I was supposed to start last September…

9) Reading.  My 'to be read' pile keeps getting bigger and bigger.  I do get on an occasional reading binge and devour a few books in a week.  For the most part though, I just keep one-clicking and feeding my Kindle instead of myself.

10) My wallet.  Funny and not so funny.  My wallet has suffered as a writer.  First, as an independent author who has to fork out all of the money for editing, cover photos, swag etc…it isn't cheap to produce a book.  That's part of the job though so I'm not complaining about that really.  Where it really suffers is when I find a million and one books I need to read- thanks to my Indie writing friends.  I also peruse Pinterest and other sites all the time for inspiration, or to kill time, and I am always finding another 'something' I must have!   Case in point…I found the picture below and had an artist friend make me one for my office.  I need to stop buying stuff!

There you have it.  A somewhat tongue-in-cheek list of things that suffer for my 'art'.  I love being able to write books.  I love socializing with all of the amazing fans, authors and bloggers that I have met.  I love spending my time doing what I love.  I am blessed!

About the author

Having grown up in both the cold, quiet town of Topsham, Maine and the steamy, southern hospitality of Mobile, Alabama, Michele is something of a enigma.  She is an avid Yankees fan, loves New England, being outdoors and misses snow.  However she thinks southern boys are hotter, Alabama football is the only REAL football out there and sweet tea is the best thing this side of heaven and her children’s laughter!

Her family, a doting husband and three awesome  minions, have planted their roots in the middle of Michele’s two childhood homes in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Never Let You Fall is Michele’s first novel and she is beyond thrilled to have finally followed up on a dream she has held for over 20 years!  God willing there will be many many more books to follow.
