Special Christmas Interview with Author Melanie Dawn

1. What is your favorite Christmas movie? Is there a reason/tradition behind your pick?

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It reminds me of those cold Christmas nights of my childhood, cuddled under a blanket by the fire. I always got to stay up later than my bedtime to watch it. Watching it with my children now brings back so many wonderful memories.

2. If you could kiss anyone under the mistletoe, who would it be??? (Significant others not allowed!)

Channing Tatum. No contest.

3. What was the best, and worst, Christmas you ever had?

My most favorite Christmas was last year. It was the year our family decided to forego gifts and take a mini-vacation instead. We packed up and headed to the beach, staying at an indoor waterpark resort. Even though there were freezing temps outside, we were able to enjoy the water slides and pools inside. It was nice to spend family time together!

My least favorite Christmas was the first Christmas my husband I were married. We decided to start our own traditions by waking up on Christmas morning in our own home. I was so used to waking up on Christmas morning with grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. It was like one big sleepover. With it being just the two of us, it just wasn't the same as waking up in a house full of people.

4. What is your favorite thing about Christmas?

My favorite thing about Christmas is spending time with family and friends. There's just something magical about about the whole Christmas season.

5. Which character that you've written loves Christmas the most? Worst? Why?

Hmmmm, I would have to say that Salem loves Christmas the most. She's such a sentimental person, and now that she has learned to bake so well she spends a lot of time in the kitchen making special treats for her friends and family.

Chris King dreads the Christmas season. He's always been busy with touring and concerts that he misses out on so much with his family, and he feels guilty about it. He wishes he could spend more time at home. Christmas time always brings a certain sadness for him.

Thanks, Melanie!
