Blog Tour ~ A Mermaid's Curse ~ Five Questions with Daniele Lanzarotta

Five Questions with Daniele Lanzarotta

1.                Whenyou think of your favorite books, what is it that draws you to them and makesyou want to read them over and over again?

Thecharacters.  I’m a character reader andif the character development is done right, the author will have a fan forlife.

2.                Didyou consciously decide to write the genre you write, or did it choose you?

Idecided.  When I first started to writeYA, I was reading a lot of YA novels and I enjoyed that period of time in thecharacters’ lives when they are still in high school and view things in certainways… when they are still experiencing many firsts… first boyfriend, firstkiss, etc.  With Mermaid’s Curse and itbeing an adult book, I was looking for a challenge.  I was curious to see how I would do writingan adult book and I was quite surprised with the result.

3.                Ifyou could sit down for a drink and a chat with any writer, who would it be, andwhy?

Aside fromthe fabulous authors from the YA at Heart Book Tour (we already talk everyday)*Laughs*  … It would probably be RichelleMead.  She is one of my favorite authors.

4.                Whenyou are not writing (or reading) what is your favorite pastime?

Going to themovies.

5.                Atwhat point were you sure that your book was ready to be published, and how didyou go about making it happen?

With myfirst novel, Imprinted Souls, I didn’t think about publishing it until thenovel was done.  I posted a message on myfacebook page saying that I had finished a manuscript, which no one even knewthat I was writing.  Turned out that therewas a publisher among my facebook friends. I sent over a few chapters of the book, and that is how it all gotstarted.  From that point on, I did a lotof research about self-publishing, indie or traditional publishing and decidedto go with indie publisher Rocket Science Productions. It just fit my goals asfar as rights and creative control, among others.

Synopsis:
Arianna always felt like she didn’t belong in the world where she was born. Ever since she was little, she used to hide behind the rocks in the sea, and watch the human family who spent their summers on that island. Over the years, there was nothing she wished more than to be like them, especially so she could get close to Blake, the human boy who she saw turn into a troubled teenager and then, an unhappy man.
Once her dad grew tired of her dreams and hopes for a reality that is not her own, Arianna is thrown into an arranged marriage, and her only way out of it is to make a deal with the power-hungry man who will give her everything that she has ever dreamed of. Dreams that turn into nightmares as she watches Blake’s world fall apart, because of her and Blake’s inability to control their desires for one another.
